Saturday in Soho

The-Dutch- NYC

It was a beautiful day yesterday, the perfect day to venture out and go for a walk around the city. Since I am 39 weeks (the baby is due next Saturday) I know I only have at most a week or so left to get anything done before Leo arrives so I made an appointment to get a haircut.

If you are looking for a stylist in NYC I highly recommend Alex Budai he has cut my hair for 7 years and does a great job. He also does a lot of work for magazines and for fashion week. I never really feel pretty but when I get a haircut and he gives me a blow out I leave feeling pretty decent and maybe a little pretty even. Thank you Alex! He works at the very fun, Patrick Melville Pipino Salon in Nolita. Here is a picture of the salon.

I was hungry so I decided to pop in for a sandwich at Despana which is a lovely little Spanish Market and Cafe on Broome Street (corner of Lafayette). Check out the site and you will see they have some delicious Spanish products. They also have  a very well curated Spanish wine store. Here are some pictures of my Bocadillo (sandwich) with Chorizo and Manchego and the cafe/market.

I had an iPhone 4s and have been patiently waiting for an upgrade. My iPhone 6 just arrived this week so I needed to buy a case. I am bummed that there really aren’t a lot of cases out yet but I had to choose something. It makes me nervous not to have a case for my phone so Q and I went to the Apple Store in Soho. By the way the lady at the Apple Store told me Best Buy has third party cases already so you may want to try there. I am not sure why there are so many people wasting their time in line for the new phone. We ordered ours and got them within 2 weeks right to our door. Very convenient! Much better than waiting in line for hours. Afterwards Q and I browsed Soho a bit.

I really shouldn’t have been on my feet so much since they are getting a bit swollen due to the pregnancy. Q and I walked to Washington Square Park to rest on a bench for awhile. It was a perfect day and one of the last warm days of the year since the temperature is supposed to fall this week.

We had a dinner reservation at The Dutch which we had never been to before. I love the space and the food was excellent. I highly recommend it if you haven’t tried it. Check out the picture below of their gorgeous bar.

I ordered the Lobster Bake which the waiter said is one of the most popular dishes. It comes with steamed potatoes, clams and buttery rolls. Q and I shared the Cocoa Roll for dessert-wish I could have just had that to myself though. Sharing is great and all but sometimes I just want my own dessert.

I have been working from home until the baby arrives so it was glorious to get out and about even for just a few hours. It was a gorgeous night. You can see the Empire State Building behind me on our way back to the park.

We passed through Washington Square Park again afterwards and watched some live music. It was a perfect night. NYC is such a fun place to live. There is so much to do, see and experience.
